Governance

Community-driven coordination, cause-level governance, and protocol-level decisions.

Two-Layer Governance

100X uses a two-layer governance model that separates decisions about individual causes from decisions about the protocol as a whole. This prevents large holders in one cause from controlling the direction of another.

PROTOCOL-LEVEL GOVERNANCE
• Treasury allocation • New cause creation • Protocol upgrades

Cause-Level Governance

CPT holders vote on what gets built within each cause. Anyone holding CPT can submit ideas and vote on proposals. Ideas that receive enough community support enter the sprint queue to be built.

Stakers who have committed CPT to a cause receive amplified voting power within that cause. Longer staking commitments result in stronger voting weight, ensuring that those with the most skin in the game have the greatest influence over direction.

Operator Role

Each cause has a specialist operator who guides the build process. The operator can fast-track promising ideas but cannot override community consensus alone. Their incentives are aligned: they earn revenue share from successful builds, so they are motivated to back ideas that will generate real value.

What Gets Decided

  • Idea prioritisation: Which ideas are selected for the sprint queue
  • Sprint allocation: How compute is distributed across active builds
  • Cause parameters: Configuration specific to the cause such as open-source ratio
  • Quality standards: Review criteria and shipping requirements

Protocol-Level Governance

Protocol-level governance focuses on high-level strategic decisions that shape the 100X ecosystem. These are decisions where broad community input is most valuable, setting the direction of the protocol rather than day-to-day operational choices, which are handled by the core team with deeper operational context.

Protocol-level voting weight is determined by total CPT held and staked across all causes.

Protocol Proposals

  • Cause creation: Proposing and approving new cause categories for the protocol to build within
  • Protocol upgrades: Smart contract upgrades, parameter changes, and architectural evolution
  • Treasury allocation: How protocol treasury funds are directed
  • Ecosystem policy: Access tiers, fee structures, and participation rules that affect all causes

Governance mechanics will be refined during the alpha phase based on community participation and feedback.
